Outer Banks, NC
I took these pictures between Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Oregon Inlet, Cape Hatteras, and Manteo, NC.
The picture of the Union bullet holes in the Ausbon House in Plymouth captures an incident from one of the last battles of the Civil War. A confederate sniper was holed up in this second floor bedroom and was picking off Union troops who had captured Plymouth. The Union troops figured out his location and attacked the home. The sniper died at the bottom of the stairs, and his blood stains remain on the floor there to this day.
Worshipping the Sunset is one of my favorite pictures. The live oak tree apparently at one time was knocked over but then grew upright. It appears to be kneeling with up-stretched arms, as if bowing and worshipping the sunset here.
